Before AI aligns to us, we are aligning to AI

I am studying Architecture, a blend of science and art. Standing at the edge of the final year of college, I never learned to construct projects without being on the site. I am under training, far from home and I can see not just me but everyone is going through a lot. It is a bit unrealistic to dream for the future without these challenges. We can create digital renders for the projects, but for a building to be there in real life, we need to step out for the construction. Everything is digitizing, our money, education, entertainment. There are fields which need us to work, like our doctors, and front line people.

We are trying to adapt to the new normal. In the beginning of the Pandemic, we had urban design for the semester, where we needed to study the city to come up with design solutions. The city, state, country, and the entire world was facing the sudden pause. We stayed in our homes, for days, weeks and months. We had our online classes, our screen time increased. Our teachers were trying their best to make us understand the basics and prepare us for something which they aren't definite of. The offices and firms we are applying for aren't ready to take new freshers into the firm, the uncertainty of the upcoming projects. We all understand roti, kapada, makan is the basic necessity, everybody is in urgent need of basic health security rather than investing into real estate or house renovation, which is the need of the hour.

With so much happening around, we as students can also see construction work happening in the country like the Central Vista is having its timeline to finish. I get angry to feel helpless sitting in the room but maybe this uncertainty is the opportunity for us to know our potential.

As students, we have our shares of responsibility. Let's help our juniors to understand things better. We are trying to share the notes, project details, and interacting with them on online platforms. There are few things which you can do as students.

Practice self check

Make a schedule for yourself, keeping yourself healthy, eating food without skipping meals because immunity is needed. If you are living on your own, make sure to talk to friends, family, never feel you are alone.

Make Connectivity

Try reaching out to new firms and offices, which are conducting seminars and online courses, brush up your skills, so that when you will come out in the field you will be much more equipped. Start taking online gigs, learn software, communication skills etc.

We miss our college classrooms, friends, college canteen, standing to wait for the bus, and eating lots of pani puri. In the class our teachers used to tell us “This is your golden period” and we need to make best use of it.
